mja goes to indy for the national acs meeting

Indianapolis was the site of the 246th National ACS Meeting, and MJA traveled there to deliver a talk on the group’s work toward a dynamic covalent molecular switch. MJA Lab collaborator Prof. Brendan Dutmer (Highland Community College) also presented a poster on the computational work he and his students have been conducting (along with Prof. Tom Gilbert, NIU) to investigate silicon Lewis acidity in some of the MJA Lab systems. MJA was also reunited with many former colleagues, including D.Phil. student Daniel Yin and Dr. Sam Thompson (University of Oxford), pictured above.

5th annual chicago organic symposium

MJA and Vlad took a road trip to South Bend, Indiana for the 5th Annual Chicago Organic Symposium. The day was spent hearing about fantastic chemistry and visiting with wonderful people in the very impressive Jordan Hall of Science at University of Notre Dame. Vlad had many visitors to his poster and enlightened them all about the great work he is doing in the lab.

Congratulations to Jesse, Ermal, Caitlin, and Brian for their excellent work, officially published today online in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry. This is a landmark achievement for the lab, especially for the three undergraduates on the paper (Jesse, Ermal, and Caitlin) who joined the group before we even owned a rotovap. Special shout out to Jesse for his phenomenal art, which got us the cover!
