max returns from duke reu program

MJA Lab undergraduate Max Korzec spent the summer doing research in the Department of Chemistry at Duke University as a participant in their prestigious NSF-sponsored REU program. Max worked under the guidance of Prof. Steve Craig, and will be presenting his results at the national meeting of the ACS in Spring, 2013. His project was impressively titled ‘Functionalization of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles and Titanium Plates’, and was done in collaboration with Prof. Zhenbin Niu. Well done, Max!

MJA returned to Oxford, UK for a symposium in honor of his post-doctoral advisor Prof. Andrew Hamilton. In addition to delivering a talk on the group’s work in silicon Lewis acids and chairing a session, he also had the privilege of meeting many of the ADH group’s esteemed previous members.

john price wins departmental awards

MJA Lab undergraduate John Price took home a bunch of hardware from the 2011-2012 NIU Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry award night. John’s excellent performance in and out of the classroom netted him the ‘Outstanding Sophomore Award’, ‘Dean’s Award’, and ‘NIU Chemistry Club Edwards-Hyland Award’.  We are very proud of him...congratulations, John!
